I’m glad that I had checked June manga for the release date because having this on preorder was a big must since it looks like it’s already out of stock after being released for several weeks.

Sawa gets bullied in a confrontation that his boss is responsible for in a bar one night, when he runs into the love of his life from 8 years ago accidentally. 8 years ago, Sawa betrayed a blossoming love w/ a new transfer student who was the son of a Yakuza boss.

Uzuki, is now high in the ranks of the Yakuza and will stop at nothing to get Sawa back for his betrayal. Resorting even to blackmail to get back at Sawa.

Although, this story starts in the present and ends in the present time. The majority of the story is written about the past and how Sawa and Uzuki met and fell in love in the typical BL plot of Sawa commanded by the school to help a new transfer student that everyone is afraid of around the school. Sawa, being who he is, is the only who never shows any fear towards Uzuki’s background and in fact takes a crusade of trying to get Uzuki to go to school, participate, and pass his exams.

The author has mentioned in the post note that this series will be written to at least 3 volumes. While this first volume can be read as stand alone and does not have any cliff hangers, I am looking forward to the rest of the series.

Like always, Noburu Takatsuki is the manga artists, and her art is incredible. I do wish they’re were more drawings. In addition, unlike most yaoi novels, this book runs about 248 pages which is a good sized read for these. There were some minor translations issues here and there, but the translations are pretty decent and didn’t hinder my enjoyment at all.

I’m looking forward to the follow up books and hope there will more from Uzuki’s POV and more on the Yakuza world.

I am a huge Yakuza yaoi fan and I must say while this one is a little light in that particular sub genre it was wonderful. The story is well written and emotionally captivating. The series has a lot of potential to grow into an awesome Yakuza yaoi series. Character development was a little slow at first but by mid book the author more than made up for it.

The sex scenes were some of the hottest I’ve read in a yaoi novel.

I enjoyed the artwork though I wish there had been more.

Have recommended this book to many of my friends and each one had the same reaction; they loved it!
