It’s about the size of a regular swiss army knife, but feels much more durable and practical.
I had been considering a Leatherman Wave (you should look at the new Charge tool too if you are considering the Wave), but always thought it was too big and bulky to carry around.
The CS4 is perfect for an everyday-tool to carry with you.
Leatherman makes a series of “Juice” tools, you can see a list of them and what features they have at their website. To me the CS4 was the best combination of bulk and features.

The first one I ordered broke on the second day I had it – the bottle opener cracked in half after opening two bottles. Not too encouraging. I contacted Leatherman, thinking their customer service would be better than Amazon, and that they’d want to know about the defect in the product. Not really. I received a quick reply to the effect that I could ship it back to them at my expense, then wait a couple of weeks for repair or replacement.
Amazon to the rescue – my first experience with their customer service, and it was great. After filling out the online return form, they immediately shipped a replacement overnight, and provided a return label for me to ship the broken tool back at their expense. Excellent – even easier than returning something to a local store.
I’ve put the replacement (including the bottle opener!) through the paces with no problems – chalk it up to a random defect. Design of this tool is excellent: small enough to carry in a pocket with most of the useful accessories in the bigger Leathermans. I recommend it – just don’t open your bottles too vigorously!

Leatherman. A name that has gone hand in hand with the term multitool for 25 years now. While they have created a great many wonderful products, not all can be first among equals.
This brings us to the Juice CS4, Leatherman’s foray into the world of pocket tools. I had this tool for about 2 or 3 months, putting it through the paces until ultimately decided I liked larger tools better.
First off, the good. I like the variety of tools available on the small frame. It’s a tad heavy, but not terrible. The pliers are good for light to medium duty work. The blade was nice and sharp out of the clam pack. And I really like the awl. And most of the important tools open from the outside, while the pliers are closed. That’s an A+ feature right there. The scissors are ‘okay’ too, nearly on par with SAK scissors. However, all is not well in paradise.
The blade, while a respectable 2.75″ and perfectly usable, I could not find a away to enjoy it. The shape was a contorted spear-point that seemed too thin on the profile and the spine. Same with the saw; it’s just flimsy.
Also annoying is the can opener. It doesn’t work; too dull. Additionally, it has to be extended in order to access the corkscrew. A minor complaint, but still worth noting. Same with the awl/saw; the awl must be extended in order to open/close the sorry excuse for a saw.
Finally, the screwdrivers. While they are perfectly usable, they are a bit too short for my liking. The phillips head driver is more of a nub than anything else.
It’s a good idea to have a pocket multitool like this. But at 50 bucks a pop, you’re better off spending a few more dollars and getting a full sized multi tool.

Just last week I used my leatherman to get myself out of a room who’s door had gotten stuck. couldn’t have gotten out without it. before this i owned the slightly larger ‘Juice’, the purple one, for several years and although I miss having the diamond file this one is lighter and still has a corkscrew. fabulous, and very useful.
